Contact Juggling?

How can I start? I’m really interested! I need to know what sized ball I need to use, my hand span is 24.5cm or 9.7in. I need to know if there is a practise ball, or whether I should practise on a carpet to refrain from dropping. I need to know ANY useful information such as good sites to go to (for the UK (England)) so I can learn and be taught. And any other useful info will be appreciated. Thanks, Zyponusk.

  1. Hey, I'm a toss juggler, but I think I can help. Good Sizes for Acrylic balls are from 2.5-3.5 inches, hand size isn't a huge issue, but if your hands are very big or very small, it may help to have a smaller or larger size. Practice balls and acrylic Sites: The Best: \/ http://www.oddballs.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1190_1205 Another one: http://www.beard.co.uk/products.php?section=13 For anything else: http://www.contactjuggling.org/mx/ Practice over softer surfaces with acrylics, they get nicked up if you don't. best of luck.
  2. My hubby got a contact ball for Christmas. He got the 3" one and finds it a bit too small. Simply google contact juggling lessons. And check out Jugglingstore.com for good juggling equipment.
  3. I saw a contact juggler on You Tube for the first time about 5 weeks ago. I have been juggling for about 20 plus years off and on. I started praticeing with my 3.5 stage ball. They are heavy enough till you can order an acrylic ball. I bought a 3 inch clear ball. They are heavy enough to do some damage so wear shoes or practice over a bed when you can. Also it beats bending over so much. I contact almost anywhere now. You get a few strange looks when you show up with a ball. But someone will ask about it. Do a few isolations and they are amazed. I will order a 4 inch ball too. But 2.50 to 3.0 should get you going. I have 2.5 inch wooden ones I bought at a craft store. They will keep your hands busy and they are real cheap. About 1.59 each. Oh, and if you are sitting on the couch or a chair. The rug keeps your acrylics from getting all messed up.
